DG01 Near-Field Multipurpose Monitors

DG01 NEAR-FIELD MONITORS
The DG01 speakers are multipurpose mixing and listening speakers designed for near-field use. Despite their size, these desktop speakers were made to be listened to from a distance of only about a foot away.
To achieve the low end necessary for critical listening, the DG01s are designed as a ported box with a 2” port on the rear side. While this causes some loss of transient accuracy, it is more than made up for by the low-frequency extension. These speakers manage to reach an F3 of 38Hz while also boasting a +/- 3dB range from ~40Hz-19kHz. The range is possible due to the excellent drivers selected for the job—Dayton Audio RS225-8 for the woofers and SB Acoustics SB26STAC-C000-4 for the tweeters. With the use of a MiniDSP PWR-ICE125 amplifier and DSP unit for each monitor, a fairly flat response is easily achieved. With the design comes a very strong center image and a large sound stage.

QUICK FACTS:
Crossover: 4th-order, woofer at 2.2kHz, tweeter at 2kHz
Response: +/-3dB ~40Hz-19kHz
F3: 38Hz
Total cost (w/o MiniDSP): ~$400
Box materials: 1/2” MDF with 3/4” birch plywood
Size: 19”Hx15”Wx18”D
Tweeter: SB Acoustics SB26STAC-C000-4
